Question 1

What is the best matcha to buy in Canada?

Accepted Answer

The best matcha depends on how you drink it. For water-only ceremonial bowls, choose a smooth ceremonial grade like Kageha Signature. For daily cups, Classic Ceremonial is balanced and versatile. For matcha lattes and iced drinks, Barista Edition is formulated to stay bold in milk. For roasted lattes and baking, choose Uji Roasted Matcha. Compare the collection on our matcha page.

Question 2

What is the best matcha for lattes?

Accepted Answer

Milk-forward drinks need a structured, vivid green powder that does not disappear under oat or dairy milk. Kageha Barista Edition is our matcha for lattes, featuring a Japan-origin, bold body, and clean green tea finish in hot or iced lattes.

Question 3

What makes your matcha ceremonial grade?

Accepted Answer

Our ceremonial products are Japan-origin green tea powders selected for smooth water preparation, vivid green color, and a refined daily ritual.

Question 4

How should I store my tea?

Accepted Answer

Store matcha sealed in an airtight container away from light, heat, humidity, strong odors, and excess air. After opening, use it promptly for the best color and aroma.

Question 6

Do you list certifications on product pages?

Accepted Answer

The current matcha collection focuses on the public facts we can state clearly: Japan origin, fine tea powder, no GMO ingredients, and no declared allergens.

Question 7

What's the difference between ceremonial and culinary matcha?

Accepted Answer

Ceremonial grade is made from the youngest, most tender leaves and is meant to be whisked with water and enjoyed on its own. Culinary grade uses slightly more mature leaves, resulting in a bolder flavour that holds up beautifully in lattes, smoothies, and baked goods.

Question 12

Is your matcha certified organic?

Accepted Answer

Our current Kageha collection focuses on the qualities we can state clearly: Japan origin, fine tea powder, no GMO ingredients, and no declared allergens. We do not currently carry a certified organic designation. If certification is important for your needs, our FAQ and product pages detail everything we do know about sourcing.

Question 13

How long does matcha last after opening?

Accepted Answer

Once opened, matcha is best used within four to six weeks for peak colour and aroma. Store the tin sealed, away from light, heat, humidity, and strong odours. Never refrigerate an opened tin unless it is truly airtight · condensation introduces moisture that clumps the powder. Unopened tins keep well for 12 months from milling.

Question 14

What is the difference between Japanese matcha and Chinese matcha?

Accepted Answer

Japanese matcha is traditionally made from tencha · shade-grown leaves that are steamed (not pan-fired), dried, and stone-milled into a fine powder. The shading process concentrates chlorophyll and L-theanine, producing the vivid green colour and smooth, umami-forward flavour Japanese matcha is known for. Chinese green tea powders are often made from pan-fired leaves without the same shading protocol, resulting in a more yellow-green colour and a grassier, sometimes more bitter profile. All Kageha products are Japan-origin.
