How long does matcha last after opening?

Once opened, matcha is best used within four to six weeks for peak colour and aroma. Store the tin sealed, away from light, heat, humidity, and strong odours. Never refrigerate an opened tin unless it is truly airtight · condensation introduces moisture that clumps the powder. Unopened tins keep well for 12 months from milling.

What is the difference between Japanese matcha and Chinese matcha?

Japanese matcha is traditionally made from tencha · shade-grown leaves that are steamed (not pan-fired), dried, and stone-milled into a fine powder. The shading process concentrates chlorophyll and L-theanine, producing the vivid green colour and smooth, umami-forward flavour Japanese matcha is known for. Chinese green tea powders are often made from pan-fired leaves without the same shading protocol, resulting in a more yellow-green colour and a grassier, sometimes more bitter profile. All Kageha products are Japan-origin.
